As part of the twelve-week programme the Team - which can number up to fifteen young people - are required to undertake a two-week community project. The team is then responsible for resourcing all the materials it needs to complete the project and to undertake fundraising activities to raise any extra funds that may be needed. Past projects have ranged from renovating rooms with a lick of paint through to overhauling overgrown gardens. The project will be fully risk assessed and supervised at all times by qualified, CRB checked Team Leaders. The project providers are not expected to contribute anything to the team's resources, give or take the odd cup of tea!
We are always on the look out for Community Projects and urge any organisations that think they may benefit from our help to get in touch. The only criteria that needs to be met is that there must be a realistic chance that the team could complete the challenge in the allotted time and that they have access to toilet and tea making facilities. So, to all the parish rooms that need a paint job, to the gardens that need gutting, contact us, we are ready, willing and waiting!!
Team Challenge
Another part of the Team programme is the Team Challenge week. The team's remit in this week is to change the lives of a group of people for the better for a week. Again the team is expected to fundraise and resource all the necessary material to enable it to do this. Previous Teams have entertained the elderly and taken children on day trips. Again we urge community groups who feel that they could benefit from a fun-filled week for free, courtesy of the teams, to get in touch for a preliminary discussion.
We have five team rooms across the county in Leicester City, Loughborough, Coalville and Hinckley and we are looking for projects in all of these locations. The Prince's Trust Team's are ready, willing and most importantly waiting to hear from you!
